Policies and guidelines

Basic guidelines

Most of these guidelines can be summarized very simply: be polite. Treat everyone with respect, and they will treat you with respect. You should not respond in kind if you're 'attacked' by another member.

Arguments are not constructive. Consider that arguments disrupt the community and are no fun for those who are not directly involved.

Always attempt to say something positive. Even if you have a differing point of view it helps to acknowledge that you understand the other point of view. Many arguments arise out of the mistaken belief that the opposing side simply doesn't understand your argument, or vice-versa. Always be sure to summarize the other person's point of view to make sure that you understand it properly.

Help mediate other disagreements. If you happen across another debate in progress, try to help mediate the disagreement rather than jump in on one side or the other.

Usernames

No offensive usernames will be tolerated. When you create a username, you should not choose one that is insulting or inflammatory.

To avoid confusion with other members do not use a name similar to those already in use by other members. If your username is considered too similar to an existing one, you may be asked to create a different one.

Users who register names that are designed to impersonate other members may be deleted immediately.

Be considerate

Be considerate, especially to new members. New members are, by definition, generally unfamiliar with the polices and customs that the rest of the community are aware of. Once they're acclimated to each clubs customs and practices they'll probably become productive members and a part of this community.

Personal attacks against any members will not be permitted whatsoever. This includes insults, flaming, trolling, or any other forms of offensive behavior. Period. We are a community brought together by our common interest in Model Yachting - although the discussion might get a little hot at times because of differing opinions, remember, this is all for fun!

Messages

Messages are meant to send private letters to other members, they must not be used for spam.

Do not flood users with messages. Sending multiple messages at once makes it a hassle for users to wade through. Please make sure you finish your message before you send it.

Photos and Files

Do not upload any photos or files you do not own the copyright for. If you didn't make the file, or take the picture, yourself you probably shouldn't post it on this site. Any files or photos that are found to be infringing someone's copyright will be removed immediately and subsequent uploads may result in a block.

Remember that these policies are an ongoing process as we learn how people will use this site and are subject to change.
